One of the aspects that I like best about living in Peru is the fact that I find myself surrounded by interesting people, working to do the “right thing” to make the world a better place. There are many ways to be part of a solution to problems and this Web Scout gives a few examples of people who care, are active, have concentrated on something feasible and are successful. The links offered give a few examples of people you may already know and groups you might join to help, as well as a few prizes offered yearly to people who do exceptionally innovative work to learn about what some interesting people are doing.
People Who Make a Difference
Aida Payet works with the Asociacion Emergencia de Ayacucho. She currently is Vice President of this organization founded to help children and families recover from the years of violence in Ayacucho. I ran into her recently in Ayacucho where she was being honored for her many years of hard and successful work. The Asociacion Emergencia de Ayacucho sponsors a Christmas bazaar on an annual basis that everyone should attend to help out this extraordinary activity.

Maruja Paino helps a group of thirty plastic surgeons and nurses who come to Lima yearly from Minnesota to collaborate with the Clinica San Juan de Dios. The San Francisco de Assis program well merits your help. Please join Maruja, Esperanza La Rosa and myself in promoting people who need care to sign up for the program and translating for the doctors during the last two weeks of January.
