When we speak of music at the highest level we always think of the presence and the personality of Jacobo (Yaco) Chertman.. He has become one of the most comprehensive and accomplished creators of lyric-romantic music not only as a concert pianist but also as a first class composer.

Yaco was born in Ariquipa to a musical family but moved to Lima for his early education. He ultimately followed his heart and when he was accepted at New York's highly respected Manhattan School of Music, he jumped at the opportunity. In 1964 he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in piano and musical composition. His performances as a concert pianist and Musical Director are very well known in the artistic and classical circuit of Lima.

With a profound knowledge of the human soul in all its expressions he puts a touch of love in every one of his compositions. Yaco says that “bringing the beautiful and the ugly, the grandeur and the small, the happiness or the sadness and the great pleasure of living this life is a constant renovation of one's self.”

Professionally Yaco has directed “La Boheme” de Puccini, “El Mundo de la Operetta.” “Hello Dolly” and “La Serva Padrona”

In addition to his many stage appearances he has also served as professor of piano of the National Conservatory, Director of the Chorus of the University Federico Villareal and currently teaches at the Abraham Lincoln School. That's between his many concerts, recitals and engagements.
