COLEGIO PERUANO BRITANICO

XVII INTERSCHOOL SEMINAR
On September 21th, Colegio Peruano Británico with the collaboration of the most prestigious universities in the country, organized the XVII Interschool Seminar: Perspectives and Challenges of Globalization, "Free Trade: Wealth or Poverty" which took place in the school auditorium.

The event was attended by 130 students from Forms IV, V and IB of 18 well known schools of Lima.

Dr. Andrés Velarde Talleri (UPC) spoke about “La Globalización.”
Magister Jorge Medicina di Paolo (Universidad de Lima) dealt with “Tratados de Libre Comercio” and
Economista Karlos La Serna Studzinkski (Universidad del Pacífico) with “El Perú frente a la Globalización y el Tratado de Libre Comercio.”

We are sure that this seminar gave students and teachers a clear idea of the meaning, problems and benefits of Globalization and the different Free Trade Commerce agreements. This will allow them to fully understand their role in the future, Peru's national identity, and the destiny and development of Peruvian society.

The British Ambassador, Miss Catherine Nettleton, was present and kindly closed the Seminar, awarding diplomas to all who had attended.

ART EXHIBITION
The Colegio Peruano Británico Art Exhibition will take place from October 18th to 20th showing the work of students from Early Years, Primary and Secondary. The Centrepiece will be the work of the IB Diploma students; this represents two years of hard work and development. It will be a pleasure to share these moments with all of you who are Art lovers, in our School Coliseum, Colegio Peruano Británico, Vía Láctea 445, Monterrico, Surco.

MARKHAM COLLEGE

With the generous support of members of the College community, Markham was able to deliver over 40 tons of food, clothing, blankets and medicines, directly into the hands of those affected by the earthquake of Wednesday 15, August. We also sent a medical team to the Pisco area for a week.

Markham's interest in helping those affected by the earthquake does not stop there. We have created an important initiative to re-build schools damaged or destroyed by the August 2007 earthquake, as we did after the earthquakes of both 1970 and 2001. An explanation of this very worthwhile initiative and information concerning how to support it, can be found on our website: www.markham.edu.pe; click on the link, “terremoto en el sur.” All enquires may also be directed to: quakeappeal@markham.edu.pe.
