Peru Copper Inc. is a Canadian metals exploration company founded in 2003 by well known exploration experts Catherine McLeod Seltzer, David Lowell, Geoff Loudon and others. The same year Company acquired the Toromocho copper deposit from the Peruvian government and began an intensive. program of drilling and metallurgical analysis on the property.
The Toromocho is one of the world's great copper deposit with over two billion tonnes of copper reserves and resources. The project is located in central Peru, approximately 140 kilometers east of Lima in the historic Morococha mining district. A paved highway from Lima passes through Morococha. The region has steep topography with elevations over the deposit ranging from 4,700 meters to over 4,900 meters above sea level. The valleys in the area are of glacial origin.
The Company's management team has extensive years of experience in Peru and includes Gerry Wolfe, President and CEO; Angel Alvarez, Vice President of Exploration; and Eric Peitz, Chief Financial Officer. The Company's shares are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) under the symbol PCR, and on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) and the Lima Bolsa (BVL-Jr.) under the symbol CUP.
