Black and White Ball
The Black and White Ball of the American Canadian Association of Peru on October 21 was a great success. The Association and the Canadian Women’s Club can be congratulated for a very special event. The Marriott Hotel in Miraflores proved to be an excellent location for this annual ball.
It was a birthday party for Mozart, his 250th, and ,of course, he made an appearance. The musical theme was played through decorations, slide projections and a string quartet playing his music. Each table was named for an important event or person in the great composer's life.
It was also a Black and White Ball, and most appeared in those colors with an occasional splash of another color. No penguins were there, but they would have blended in quite well.
Masks were distributed, and it became obvious that they make a person mysterious, alluring and attractive. They come from another time, but one can see how effective they are in adding to the fun of a social event of this type.
Dinner was delicious and more than a glass of champagne was drunk. The Marriott Hotel did itself proud as an excellent venue for the Ball. Service to the twenty tables was quick and efficient.
After the dinner, music. The crowd was enchanted by the lovely voice of Bonnie Ludwig backed up by an excellent orchestra. The dance floor was soon filled as familiar tunes flowed from the instruments and singers. Attendees showed their stamina as dancing continued into the wee hours.
Along with the other festivities, a silent auction offered the opportunity to purchase some excellent services and items as well as benefit the Association.
If you could not attend this event this year, put it on your calendar for next year. It was an elegant ball.
