The International Christian School of Lima is one of the few American schools in Lima on the North American calendar. We are off to a great new school year and are half way through the first quarter. Parent teacher conferences will be held on September 13 from 12:30 until 4:30. Please call the office for an appointment. Spiritual Emphasis Week will be from September 18 - 22. Everyone is welcome to participate in all the different activities planned for this week. Please call (442-4169) or email us at icslimaperu@gmail.com for more information. You may to on our website (icslima.org) and download the school calendar to see the dates for all the stimulating events planned for this school year.

Peruano Británico School

XVI Interschool Seminar
This year CPB is holding our 16th Interschool Seminar for students from Form IV and V from about 20 different schools in Lima. Speakers from the universities such as Mr. Salomón Lerner (PUCP), Mr. José Luis Sardón (UPC) and Mr. Betford Betalleluz (UL) will give talks about “Vigencia de los Derechos Humanos en el Perú”. This event will take place on September 8th in the school.

Drama
We are delighted to announce that our drama team will take part in two drama festivals. We will enter our piece which is called 'Shakepeare, actually' in the British Schools of Peru One Act Play Festival on September 14 - 16th in the Teatro Britanico (Bellavista 531, Miraflores). We will also submit the same piece for the ASDRAM, a theatre competition organized by Colegio San Jorge. This will take place on September 29th at Teatro Montecarlo (Elías Aguirre 479, Miraflores). Our drama coach is Wendy Vasquez, who won the El Comercio “Oscar” last year as Best Peruvian Actress. Tickets will be available shortly.

Sports
The Peruano Británico Cup is one of the events included in the calendar of sporting activities at our school. Various schools in Lima take part and compete, such as Newton, Pestalozzi, and Humboldt. The competition starts on Saturday, 26th August and continues every Saturday during September.

Recycling
Recycling continues to go from strength to strength at CPB. Working with the Municipalidad de Surco and a UNICEF programme all our students are actively involved in providing solutions to global problems such as waste disposal. Our First Graders recently conducted an investigation into reducing, reusing and recycling materials at home and at school. Part of the project was a trip to the recycling plant in Surco to find out what happens to the materials that we recycle in school, once they leave in the big trucks. The investigation concluded with action: everyone made presents for their families out of reusable materials. It is through activities such as these, that we are forming conscientious leaders of tomorrow.

Ex-pupils' lunch
We cordially invite all of our ex-pupils to our annual lunch. This year it will be held on Saturday 30th of September in the school gardens. Don't hesitate to call to our school for more information. (tel 436 0151)

San Silvestre School

On Saturday 16th September, there will be a Hockey Festival held on San Silvestre's main campus field from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Schools and clubs are warmly invited. For more information, please contact the Sports Department of San Silvestre School (241-3334 extension 451).

On Saturday 22nd September, the Secondary School students are organizing a Talent Show, the proceeds of which will go entirely to the Zapallal community project. The “Sagrada Familia” in Zapallal houses almost 600 children who rely entirely on donations. San Silvestre students organize visits and support, working closely with the children in the home. To give an idea of the real need for help, the home uses 75 kilos of rice a day, so one can imagine just how much food is needed to give these children a nutritious diet. In addition, infrastructure needs are extreme. The proceeds of the Talent Show will go towards renovating the kitchen or a bathroom. If you would like to show support for this project in any other way, please contact our Community Service Co-ordinator, Cecilia Pennano.
