Annual Canada Day and
Independence Day Picnic
Saturday, July 1st was the date of the joint annual picnic, held this year at the American school, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The sun tried to cooperate with us as did all the other elements that make up the picnic; members, guests, volunteers, staff, musicians, gurgling babies, even an ambassador. There was a variety of musicians to entertain us, any amount of different food booths to please the most demanding palate, games galore for the adults and children plus an entertainment area of their own with music and supervised games.
The adult games in front of the stage are always popular. This year, the tug of war was won by the Americans, which is only fitting, as the Canadians won it last year. Tit for tat.
This year, one of many changes was the fireworks which we held before an evening concert. A general consensus was easily taken you just had to listen to the “oohs and aahs” and to the applause after the last burst and last note of music.
The concert of Libido had a different effect, the young fans dancing close to the stage, the older ones nodding and tapping, comfortably seated. Again, the applause told it all.
Thank you everyone, for a really great day and a good party!
