Cambridge College and Hiram Bingham School

Teachers Teaching Teachers (TTT) started in 2002 as an initiative of Colegio Roosevelt and was hosted by Markham College in 2003, and in 2004, by Newton College.

It involves all the teachers from the British Schools of Peru (BSP), the Peruvian members of the Latin American Heads Conference (LAHC) and Colegio Roosevelt. The aim is for teachers from these nine schools to share with other teachers new ideas that they have tried and tested in their own classroom through one-hour long workshops.

On June 3rd, Hiram Bingham School will be hosting TTT for Secondary teachers whilst Cambridge College will host TTT for Early Years and Primary teachers.

Colegio Roosevelt

Annual Roosevelt Carnival - thanks to our Parents Association, this year's Carnival promises to be a wonderful event. Scheduled for Saturday May 20, it will be a day of rides, games, food and fun for the Roosevelt family and friends. We invite you to bring you children and join the fun!

Roosevelt 8th Graders Focus on the Community - Roosevelt has a long-standing commitment to community service and our Middle School Community Focus project is a perfect example. Venturing into the community to execute a solution provides Roosevelt students with unique opportunities that include interacting with people from different social backgrounds, organizing work schedules and workers, interacting with business leaders, as well as fundraising and managing donations. Through their experiences, students learn to see life from different angles and broaden their perspectives. Moreover, they soon learn that diligence, creativity, teamwork, and a little faith can go a very long way!

Our students will make their final project presentations to the Roosevelt community on May 25 and 26 on campus in the Little Theater. If you would like to join us, please send an email to Anne Arrarte at aarrarte@amersol.edu.pe

International Christian School of Lima

Our students are working hard preparing for the ICSL Spelling Bee which will be held on Friday, May 12. Everyone is welcome to join us for this event that is being held in the Chase Hall from 1:30 until 3:30.

International Cultures Week will be taking place during the week of May 29 until June 2. This is always an exciting time for our students and families as we learn about and celebrate the many different cultures represented in our student body. Each class will be presenting what they have learned about the culture they studied during the month of May. One of the highlights of the week is when all the parents prepare their favorite food from their home country and join us for a great lunch. Please call the school at 442-6149 or email us at ics_lima@hotmail.com if you would like a schedule of events.

Markham College

The Markham College Kermesse will be held on Saturday 27 May at the San Antonio playing fields, beginning at 11am and ending promptly at midnight. The main entrance will be located on Augusto Angulo.

There will be events for all ages, including shows for smaller children with mechanical rides, carnival games and inflatable jumping areas. Everyone will enjoy the wide selection of foods - Pizza Hut, Kentucky, Long Horn and Manos Morenos to name a few. And there will be booths and contests, mechanical rides for the older children and the famous Tombola with over 6,000 prizes!

The grand finale later in the evening will feature a very special, sought-after Peruvian artist, whose name will remain secret. Everyone is welcome!!!

San Silvestre School

Our annual newspaper collection will take place on Saturday 20th May. All funds obtained from the sale of paper go towards our Community Service projects. You can deposit your newspapers at the school at any time on or before 20th May. Should you be unable to do so, please feel free to call Doreen Fisher at 241-3334, extension 110, who can arrange for your newspapers to be collected.

This year, in addition to the newspaper collection, the students are also collecting glossy advertising leaflets for another Community Service project, as well as empty Hewlett Packard ink cartridges which will be recycled. All these would also be gratefully received.

The “Ponte Pilas” campaign is ending on Friday 26th May. We are still collecting used batteries and these can be deposited at the school. Please help us with protecting the environment and, at the same time, help those in need.

Our annual Careers Fair, with representation of many universities and higher education institutes, will be held on Saturday, 27th May from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Mr. Marco Calle of the Careers Department.

Saturday 24th June is our Annual Kermesse, at which our guest artist will be Gianmarco. Please keep that day free to join San Silvestre for a family day of fun.
