Newcomers' Cocktail Party

We are very lucky to count the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Lima as one of our friends and members, since she was willing to be our hostess us for the annual Newcomers' Cocktail Party. No less than 85 new and old members enjoyed a wonderful buffet dinner (we really must change the name next year) and cocktails in the garden, round the pool and inside the house.

The highlight of the evening was a tasting of Chilean and Spanish wines, offered to us by Arturo Vega, whose company DINSERSAC is rapidly becoming the unofficial provider of wines to the Association. The participating wineries were Errazuriz Ovalle (Chile), and Orvalaiz and Piedemonte (Spain). Arturo also organized a raffle, with the grand prize a specially made box of six of his best wines, won by Larry Pitman, and another one which he gave to your Association (no, you may not. It is going to be raffled at the Annual Picnic). Also raffled were two vouchers for dinner, graciously offered by the Restaurant SIAM, and another for pasta for 5 people from MOLINARI.

Our thanks go to Phyllis Powers for her generosity, to Arturo for his, as well as to all of the directors and members who made the party so enjoyable.
