Colegio Roosevelt Kicks off it's 60th Anniversary Celebration

Colegio Roosevelt graduates from around the world, parents, faculty, students and friends came together to kick off the school's 60th anniversary celebrations with a busy weekend of Roosevelt-related activities on April 20, 21 and 22.

The festivities got started on Thursday evening, April 20th, when over 600 members of the school community got together under the stars on the school garden for a cocktail and birthday toast. Guests enjoyed a traditional - and a modernized - version of the Roosevelt anthem played by the school's excellent Jazz Band, heard congratulatory words from United States Ambassador J. Curtis Struble and then had a chance to hear from our 5th graders how Roosevelt is affecting their learning and their lives.

Friday, the school welcomed alumni students and faculty from Lima, Latin America, the U.S. and beyond for our first Alumni Day. Alum heard from Superintendent Carol Kluznik about the state of the school, from Curriculum Director Kathy Daulton about developments in Roosevelt curriculum as we become an IBO World School this coming semester, and from students and teacher who regaled school visitors with music, dance, athletic exhibitions….and lots of wonderful international food!

Finally, Roosevelt alumni partied heartily on Saturday the 22nd at the school's 3rd annual Alumni Luncheon, which brought over 425 alumni students, faculty and staff for a delicious almuerzo criollo prepared by Roosevelt parent and caterer Felipe Ossio and alumna chef Christina Cunningham. Everyone enjoyed reconnecting and the dancing went on well into the evening hours.
