April Restaurant Night
A Meal to
Satisfy the Hungriest Carnivore
Last month's restaurant of choice was El Hornero, a Reconstruction Period two-storey house overlooking the bay of Chorrillos. On the second floor, 65 members met to chat, socialize and get down to what Restaurant Night is all about enjoying dinner surrounded by friends. More and more of you are joining us in these forays into Lima cuisine and even better, returning over and over again.
The appetizer course of mushrooms on the grill disappeared in seconds, truthfully. It took much longer to get through the second course of grilled meat (Argentinean beef, pork, sausage, chicken, and all sorts of other bits and pieces of meat), as the size of the portions were industrial. This was accompanied by a mountain of hot “papas fritas” and a green salad with all of the trimmings. No one, not even the healthier appetites shown by some of our members, could finish the meal. For those who could, there was a dessert trolley followed by coffee.
Judging by the level of conversation, the expanded tummies and the flushed faces all carrying their doggie bags when we left, it should be judged a successful evening.
