Dinner Dance

We are going to try something different this year - instead of being swept off our feet at La Carreta, we will try something a little more romantic, dining and dancing in a very old house, steeped in the history of San Isidro - La Casa Moreyra, the ex-casa hacienda of the Olive Grove.

Their Spanish tile interior patio is ideal for the event, the tables grouped around the centre fountain and there is an elevated dance floor affording us plenty of room. The summer nights should be perfect for this dinner and the colonial architecture of the farm house a treat for the eye. We'll have a tour of the house before dinner and learn more about the history of the house and the Olive Grove.

The menu is still being negotiated, but for any of you who have eaten there, you know that it's very, very good. I'm just being fussy. One of the pluses of this restaurant, besides the chef, Enrique Blondet, is the attention to detail and the unfailing courtesy of his staff.

Obligatory cocktails, appetizers, first course (I'm leaning toward either the veal carpaccio with arugula perfumed olive oil and parmesan curls or the al dente green asparagus on the grill with a tomato and Spanish piquillo pepper sauce (yes, ours). Corcho libre, of course. The cost will be $30 per person which includes the cost of hiring Raul Sovero, our favourite disc jockey.

The parking is inside the courtyard or valet parked by their staff in the back of the property.
