Are we all ready for Turkey? Thanksgiving is an annual celebration when we dedicate our selves to the preparation and eating of this delicious bird. Poor bird! But it's so good, filled with sage or sausage stuffing, rich pan gravy, cranberry sauce, potatoes, sweet potatoes, an array of fresh vegetables. And sweet corn….yes, real sweet corn.

This year the Association is planning an escape to the sunny climes of Chincha, a fertile agricultural valley two and a half hours south of Lima. Near El Carmen, the centre of Afro-Peruvian culture in Peru, lies the Hacienda San José an incredibly beautiful farm house turned into a hotel. We will be staying there and the owners have offered the Association very special rates that make this weekend in the sun even more attractive.

The Association is offering a variety of options for the weekend, from all-inclusive packages of four days and three nights, to three days/two nights, two days/one night or even just the Thanksgiving luncheon. Please call or e-mail the office for prices and other details.

The weather in Chincha is much better than in Lima, guaranteed to be sunny, and the Hacienda San José has a nice pool and a great games area. There are lots of things to see and do in the area, including horses to ride, and plenty of room for the kids to run around. We'll also visit the farm where our tomatoes and artichokes grow, and sample the fresh corn-on-the-cob we have grown especially for the Association's Thanksgiving dinner.
