School News Colegio Peruano Británico XV Interschool Seminar On Friday September 9th, the XV Interschool Seminar organized by Colegio Peruano Británico will take place. This year the theme is “Juventud: Formación Ciudadana, Democrática y Solidaria.” The speakers this year will be Dr Jorge González Izquierdo from Universidad del Pacifico, Sra. Pepi Patrón from Universidad Católica del Perú, and Dra. Lourdes Flores Nano from Instituto Peruano de Economía Social de Mercado. About 150 students from some twenty schools will be attending what promises to be a most stimulating presentation. International Baccalaureate Workshops This year from 15th to 17th September the College is host to a series of workshops for teachers of the International Baccalaureate Diploma in schools in Peru and other Latin American countries. About 170 teachers will attend the workshops in Spanish, History, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Visual Arts, and Music. Nueva Acrópolis Music Contest The school will again present three choirs in the Nueva Acrópolis music competition. For nine years our students have excelled in this annual presentation of musical talent in Peru. The competition is taking place at Teatro Peruano Japonés. The Concerts for the Winning Groups are planned for the 28th, 29th and 30th of September. International Christian School of Lima Our new school year has just begun, and there are many exciting activities planned. Spiritual Emphasis Week will be from September 19 23, when a team will come from Seoul, South Korea to minister to our middle/high school students and a team coming from Lynchburg, Virginia to work with our elementary students. The theme for the week is the “Fruits of the Spirit.” Everyone is welcome to participate in all the different activities planned for this week. The Board of Directors, Administration and staff of Colegio Roosevelt would like to welcome our new students, teachers and their families to Roosevelt and to Lima. This academic year we have accepted a total of 170 new students from around the world bringing our total enrollment to 1,251. Many of our new faculty and parents have joined or are joining the ACAP so please give them a warm welcome when you meet them! San Silvestre School The Second Latin American Inter-CAS event will be held in Paracas, Peru from 30th September until 5th October. After the experience that five of our pupils had in Chile in 2004, eight San Silvestre students will be participating in this event, which will bring together about 200 students from nine different Latin American countries. Prior to the event, there will be a meeting for all the Peruvian students involved in this project, so that they can get to know each other and form part of the “host team.” Our pupils are full of enthusiasm, not only because they will be welcoming a foreign student into their homes, but because the whole group will be doing environmental conservation work together.
