ACAP Donation to El Refugio,
Center for Abandoned Children
This month ACAP will provide formula milk and diapers for approximately 100 children in Magdalena and Ventanilla. ACAP's in-kind donation valued at $300 was granted to El Refugio, an Evangilist Christian foster home and day care center for abandoned and high risk children.
El Refugio is a Peruvian registered, not-for-profit organization with two central locations of operation. In Magdalena, the home serves as a foster home and sanctuary where children receive proper physical, social and spiritual healthcare. In Ventanilla, El Refugio operates as a day care center offering working parents a safe option to leaving their children unattended while earning a living.
Doris Storz (Swiss) and Lucia Corzo (Peruvian) started El Refugio five years ago with a mutual desire to serve abandoned and high risk children. Aside from donations, El Refugio sustains its self through a variety of programs. In addition to running a soup kitchen, El Refugio sells various products that include hand-painted cards made by mothers in Ventanilla. El Refugio is also currently looking for a baker to volunteer evenings in its bakery in Ventanilla. If you are interested in donating or volunteering your services to El Refugio, please contact ACAP for more information.
