School News

Colegio Roosevelt

The first day of school for the 2005-2006 school year is on Wednesday, August 3rd. School offices are open from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday (until 3:30 on Wednesdays.)

We would like to give a special welcome to our new Superintendent Carol Kluznik and her husband Ryan Ashley who will also join the Roosevelt staff as a Middle/High School Counselor.

Superintendent Carol Kluznik comes from Minneapolis-St.Paul, Minnesota, where she was Principal of 2,200 students for three years at Centennial High School. Prior to this post, she was Superintendent of the American School in Warsaw, Poland for 5 years where she was responsible for the construction of the new school that included Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School, High School, Theater and Swimming Pool buildings in a record time of 18 months. She is very proud of joining our prestigious school and looks forward to leading the pursuit to excellence.

The Roosevelt community would also like to give a very warm welcome to all the new staff members joining the school this year: Ann and Robert Gould, Julie and John Lemley, Jennifer Reseigh, Robert Small, Angela Tyre Sostak, Ann and Robert St. Clair, Kurt Wittig, and Judy Dominick. They come from the United States, Canada, and Holland.

Colegio Peruano Británico

A Sports Day organized by the British Peruvian Chamber of Commerce will take place on Saturday August 20th. There will be a football tournament with twenty teams of eight a side, and twenty teams in a mixed volleyball tournament. The participants in the football competition will be able to take advantage of the new artificial grass pitch that the College installed in 2005. This promises to be a great day of fun and activity, and the College is very pleased to be host to the British Peruvian community.

Performance from Early Years´ Parents. Early Years parents have kindly offered their time and effort to prepare a performance to celebrate the Day of the Child. On August 17th they will present a show for their children in the school amphitheatre. Parents have been rehearsing with lots of enthusiasm and dedication for this production.

San Silvestre School

Hockey Festival. Students from various schools in Lima will participate in a friendly hockey festival to be held at San Silvestre School (main campus) on Saturday 3rd September, starting at 9:00 a.m. If there are many teams participating, the games will continue on Sunday 4th September.

Basketball. The Association Schools (ADCA) “Medianas” basketball teams start their championship games at San Silvestre on Monday 5th September at 4:00 p.m. Please come along to support the teams in the San Silvestre Sports Centre.
