UPCOMING EVENT

Old-Fashioned Family Picnic In celebration of
U.S. Independence and Canada Day
JUNE 25th Noon 'till 6 pm
New themes, Old Traditional Games, Totally different!!!
* * *
We are going back to an old-fashioned July family picnic!

New and old games tug-a wars, banana eating contests, Wheelbarrow races, three-legged races, fathers and sons, moms and daughters, bosses and secretaries, we are all going to have a blast and good old-fashioned fun. The games will have prizes -- some big, some small, including restaurant vouchers and much greater things. We have all kinds of great games planned for the area in front of the stage.

Our entertainment will be spectacular this year! Professionally managed by a stage-management group, we will feature a cornucopia of different musical groups. Kicking us off will be the U.S. Marine Color Guard!! The headline music group, TK, who you heard on the sound track of the animated movie "Pirates of Callao". Also on hand will be the super talents of Colegio Roosevelt's Jazz band; Laura Vargas, with her acoustic guitar and folk songs; and William Luna with his Andean musical sounds. This year's event is choreographed to be a super show for all.

And look for new games for the kids! Extra-special booths are being set up in the kid's areas for great games for the little ones, including bean bag throws, ring tosses, squirt gun competitions and lots more. There will also be magicians and face painting, McDonald's kids and Metro kids, Timbo the clown and many more special things for the kids. New inflatables this year will add to the joy of the little ones. Have the young folks bring there sneakers soccer competition will be going on through out the picnic.

Food and Food galore, many new restaurants will have booths this year you may even see Starbucks! This year you will be able to get pizza, chicken, Thai, Mexican, and many different foods, in keeping with the old-fashioned theme, the U.S. Marines are breaking out their Barbeque expertise, serving up American- style hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixin's. Thirsty? There will be enough choices to float a cow. Backus and Coca-Cola are not holding back this year, they are stocking everything full, along with ice for cold beers and sodas. Also, as usual, you will find a great selection of wines. Bring your burp towel if you plan on taking on the “½ Yard of Ale.” Yes, a long tube with a yard of ale to be guzzled down in one breath. Up to the challenge? “Plan on taking a taxi.”

The fireworks display at nightfall will be a stunning new show this year. More old- fashioned games, good food, good friends, all celebrating the liberty we enjoy. If that's not enough, we have a lot more planned, with a professional master of ceremonies being the ring-leader of what is sure to be the best ACAP picnic yet.
