Odds & Ends: Guardian Angel Found in Chaclacayo |

If you head east of Lima on the central highway for about thirty minutes, you will be in Chaclacayo, a small residential berg that enjoys a lot more sun and fresh air than the capital. It was a haven for expatriates during the golden years of the 40´s, and 60´s, and there are still a few diehards that don't mind the long commute down to the bedlam of the big city. |

It was early January 2004; the beginning of the Peruvian summer. I was waiting impatiently in a hot car parked outside the Claro mobile phone office in San Isidro. Jaime was inside trying to find out why our phones were blocked. It was just one of several annoying details that demanded attention before heading down to our beach house; the land of sun and fun. After that we still needed to load up on groceries in preparation for the party next weekend. |

But because our visits were every 3 months, we realized that in order for the people to have better access to healthcare, we needed to help them know how to take care of themselves when no healthcare provider was available. |
