A
HUGE SUCCESS
| Saturday,
March 20th was a night to remember for the 240 American
and Canadian Association of Peru members and their
guests, President Alejandro Toledo among them, who
were lucky enough to attend the annual Black &
White Ball at the home of Canadian Ambassador and
Honorary ACAP President Hugues Rousseau.

Happy Guests |
|
This
year's B & W was organized jointly with the
Canada-Peru Chamber of Commerce, and with the collaboration
of the Canadian Ambassador's wife, Maryse Harvey.
In addition to a delicious dinner and a delightful
dance band, the event featured a first-rate art
exhibition-sale and the ever-popular silent auction. |
| The
head table included, in addition to the hosts and
President Toledo, the United States Ambassador,
J. Curtis Struble and the British Ambassador, Richard
Ralph and his wife Jemma. Jim Plunkett kicked off
the night with words of welcome and Ambassador Rousseau
offered a warm welcome to his houseful of guests.

The ever-popular silent
auction |
|
The
scrumptious dinner featured a first course of smoked
trout with fresh green asparagus points, bathed
in a light Dijonnaise sauce, and a main course of
turkey breast stuffed with artichoke, bacon and
mozzarella cheese in a fines hierbes sauce, accompanied
by Julienne cut string beans with bacon, mushrooms
a la provenzal, and baby new potatoes sauteed in
butter and rosemary. |
| The
art exhibition-sale was nothing short of exquisite,
and added much color and good taste to the event.
Featured were paintings from such fine Peruvian
artists as Víctor
Delfín, Venancio Shinki, Carlos Revilla,
Gerardo Chávez, Amelia Weiss, Carlos Runcie
Tanaka, Julio Quispejo and Andrés Molina. |

Twist and shout |
|

The Fallo Muņoz Band |
|
It
was not easy, however, to get the party goers off
of the dance floor. The ever-popular Fallo Muñoz
Band featuring the dynamic Claudia Muñoz
as lead vocalist played four hours of non-stop music
that was an irresistible mix of tunes that ranged
from waltzes to meringue. |
|
Special
thanks go to Cheri Maisonneuve who, as Executive
Director of the Peru-Canada Chamber of Commerce,
worked tirelessly, as did Linda Hewitt and Victoria
Lyle to assure the success of this year's B &
W, and to Karelia and Ruby Lakatos, who organized
the impressive art exhibition.
Many
thanks also go to this year's corporate sponsors
and to the companies that made donations for the
silent auction. Their names are listed below.
